Hardness test is the simplest test in mechanical property tests. So as to replace some of the mechanical property tests by hardness test, a more accurate conversion between hardness and strength is needed during production.

      
Practice shows that, there are corresponding approximate relations between metal material and various hardness values, and between hardness value and strength value. As the hardness value is decided upon the initial plastic deformation resistance and continuous plastic deformation resistance, is higher the strength of the material, is higher plastic deformation resistance, and is also higher hardness value.
